Project identity
COD Zombies browser: know which project you are opening
COD Zombies browser projects are not interchangeable. NZ: Portable identifies itself as a Quake-based de-make, while the separate BO1-labelled host has its own setup screen. Neither name alone establishes original-engine parity.
Source review: . A source review is not a gameplay test.
NZ: Portable
The NZ:P team describes its project as a Call of Duty: Zombies de-make, primarily recreating World at War with differences. Its repository links a WebGL version. It does not substantiate the draft claim that this is a Treyarch-engine BO1 port with every original map.
NZ:P solo route observed in the browser
On October 14, 2026, browser-driven interaction with build 2.0.0-indev+20260903020714 reached Round 1 of Nacht der Untoten. The session supplied no game files. Movement was observed, but shooting and reload were not reliably verified, so NZ:P remains outside the verified playable directory.
The map menu also showed Warehouse, Tikhaya Noch, Warehouse (Classic), Christmas Special, House, Temple and Overlook. These are observed menu labels, not a claim that every map works or that the project contains all original BO1 maps.
- Open the author-linked NZ:P WebGL page and wait for its main menu. Give the game canvas focus.
- Choose Solo. In this check, Enter confirmed the highlighted menu selection.
- Select Nacht der Untoten, then choose Start Game on the pre-game screen. Wait through the countdown and map-loading screen.
- Check that the first-person scene has appeared before testing inputs. In this session W moved the viewpoint and Escape opened the pause menu. Shooting and reload still need a successful check; reaching the scene alone does not establish complete playability.
The BO1-labelled host
The vel.gg/bo1z setup page was observed in Chromium. It presents a player-name field, solo and multiplayer choices, gun options and a map-selection action. A menu is not proof of working multiplayer, map completeness or the engine used. This host is kept separate from NZ:P.
The host’s reviewed build manifest lists Five, Kino der Toten, Nacht der Untoten, Der Riese, Shi No Numa, Verrückt, Ascension, Call of the Dead, Shangri-La and Moon. It names KisakBlack-web engine artifacts. A listed map is not a completed playtest, and artifact filenames alone do not verify engine provenance.
NZ:P keyboard bindings in the author’s PC configuration
The NZ:P assets repository contains these PC key bindings at the linked source revision. They are a reference for that configuration, not a verified control table for every WebGL build. Check Configuration in the build you open and use its current bindings if they differ.
Our browser checks observed W movement and Escape opening the pause menu. A later attempt also showed a reload animation, but did not establish reliable before-and-after ammunition counts. Shooting and completed reload remain unverified; these documented bindings do not upgrade the project’s playable status.
| Input | Mapping / observed action |
|---|---|
| W / A / S / D | Move forward / left / backward / right |
| Left / right mouse button | Attack / aim |
| R | Reload |
| Space | Jump |
| Hold E | Use / interact |
| Q | Switch weapon |
| G | Grenade |
| V | Knife |
| Tab | Show scores |
| Escape | Toggle menu |
Controls, maps and device support
Use the controls menu for the exact build you open. We do not copy a control table or map list from a different Zombies project. Mobile, gamepad, save and multiplayer support require separate checks; a desktop menu does not verify those features.
Troubleshooting
If loading stops, note the project address, browser version and visible error. Check the original project’s documentation and current issues. Do not disable browser protections as a blanket fix. Report a reproducible failure with those details, without sending files or credentials.
Questions before you start
Is NZ:P an official Call of Duty release?
The NZ:P repository describes a de-make based on Quake source ports. This directory is independent of the project and the game publisher.
Does seeing Multiplayer mean co-op works?
No. A menu option does not verify a successful session. Co-op needs a separate test with the relevant build and network.
