Skate 3 browser: distinguish the engine and asset pack
A Skate 3 name can refer to different community builds. The reviewed skate3-cleanroom project identifies a Rust/Bevy engine rewrite and a regenerated asset pack. It should not be described as the complete original console game.
Source review: . A source review is not a gameplay test.
Which project is this?
The author links a browser build from the skate3-cleanroom repository. Its documentation distinguishes its asset pack from the engine’s private conversion workflow. We have not established that this is the same build referenced by the original Radiant Optimizer post.
A separate fan-game host with an own-copy notice
The skate.aaddpp.lol landing page identifies itself as a fan game and says it streams data from the visitor’s own converted copy of Skate 3. That is a different host from the cleanroom browser pack discussed here. Its landing-page notice does not provide a verified conversion recipe or establish that it shares the same build and controls.
We have reviewed that notice, not a skating session on this host. Do not transfer the cleanroom pack’s file requirements or the engine keyboard table below to it. Its relationship to the original Radiant Optimizer post remains unconfirmed.
File requirements depend on the build
Do not apply a private disc-conversion procedure to every page carrying the Skate 3 name. The reviewed browser build serves its own pack, while the engine repository describes separate asset preparation. We have not tested a user-supplied data workflow and do not publish conversion instructions for it.
Browser and controls
The author specifies WebGPU and documents keyboard and browser-gamepad input. In our headless Chromium check, the page reported that no GPU adapter was available. The input legend was visible, but we could not verify a skating session, controller behavior, mobile play or performance.
Keyboard mapping documented by the author
These are the engine’s documented keyboard-to-Xbox mappings, not inputs verified in a skating session here. Click the page to give it keyboard focus. The author notes that a held key gives full stick deflection and that a connected gamepad needs a button press while the page is focused before the browser exposes it.
| Input | Mapping / observed action |
|---|---|
| W / A / S / D | Left stick |
| Arrow keys | Right stick (flicks) |
| Space | A button |
| E | B button |
| Left Shift | X button |
| F | Y button |
| Z / C | Left / right trigger |
| Q / R | Left / right bumper |
| Enter or Escape | Start |
| Backspace | Back |
| 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 | D-pad up / down / left / right |
| V / B | Left / right stick click |
If the game cannot start
Read the WebGPU error shown by the project and consult its current requirements. A renderer failure on this test machine does not establish that the project is down for everyone. We leave gameplay unverified instead of declaring either success or a global outage.
Questions before you start
Is this the official Skate 3 browser edition?
The source identifies a community Rust/Bevy rewrite. We do not represent it as an official release or a complete copy of the original game.
Do I need to convert my own game files?
That depends on the exact build. The cleanroom browser pack and the private asset-conversion workflow are distinct. This guide has not verified the latter.
